FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Intelligence for the equipment your care depends on.

Dawam brings together the information surrounding your life-critical equipment — from specifications and manuals to service history, calibration and operational context — so your teams can understand what matters, why it matters, and what deserves attention.

Understanding Dawam

Dawam is a Life-Critical Asset Intelligence platform. It brings together the information surrounding your medical equipment — so your people can understand what a device is, what has happened to it, what it needs, and whether it's ready when it's needed. Dawam turns scattered equipment information into structured, contextual intelligence that care teams can use to make better operational decisions.

Life-critical equipment is any device whose failure, degradation or unavailability can materially affect patient care — a ventilator, monitor, infusion pump, imaging system, sterilizer, or another device the care team depends on. The question that matters isn’t just what does the device do — it’s what happens to care if it isn’t ready.

Dawam is designed for the physical equipment that healthcare organizations depend on — clinical, diagnostic, laboratory, monitoring and life-support equipment. If a device’s failure or unavailability would disrupt care, it belongs in Dawam.

HTM/EAM manages the equipment register. CMMS maintains the equipment. Dawam understands the equipment. These systems manage equipment, maintenance activities and operational records — Dawam works alongside them, adding an intelligence and contextual layer rather than requiring you to replace them.

Asset Intelligence

Dawam connects the information surrounding a device — identity, specifications, documents, maintenance and calibration history, condition, location, regulatory status, alerts and other operational context — into one coherent picture, instead of leaving it scattered across systems, documents and people.

Dawam connects documentation, technician observations, service history, calibration records and other context to the devices they belong to — so an organization’s operational knowledge stays attached to the device, not locked in one person’s memory or a folder no one can find. Existing systems can remain authoritative for their own records; Dawam keeps the surrounding knowledge connected and usable.

Yes. You can ask something like “What should I know before using this ventilator?” and Dawam surfaces the relevant history, conditions, relationships and evidence that deserve attention — grounded in the information already connected to that device.

Dawam can surface anomalies, changes, patterns and contextual signals that may deserve attention — helping teams investigate potential issues before they become failures or care disruptions. It’s not a guarantee that every failure will be predicted; it’s a way to make what’s already knowable about a device actually visible.

AI & Trust

Dawam’s intelligence is grounded in the evidence and context surrounding a device, not generated in a vacuum. Every answer can be traced back through a chain — Question → Evidence → Context → Intelligence → Decision — so your teams can see what an assessment is based on, not just the assessment itself.

No. Dawam reasons about equipment readiness, never about a patient’s condition or treatment. It does not accept patient-identifying information as input and does not produce patient-directed clinical guidance. A qualified biomedical engineer, clinician or authorized staff member always makes the final determination that equipment is fit for use.

No. Dawam uses AI to surface contextual intelligence, relationships, anomalies and recommendations from the information surrounding a device. It assists people in making operational decisions — it does not silently become the authoritative source of equipment state. AI may recommend; people and your authoritative systems remain responsible for the verified operational state.

No. Availability Status — Available, In Use, Out of Service, Under Calibration or Under Repair — can only be written by a human action. Dawam’s AI layer is never permitted to change it directly.

Dawam distinguishes between what’s known from available evidence and what’s inferred or recommended. When information is incomplete, the goal is to surface what is known, what is missing, and what may need verification — not to turn uncertainty into false certainty.

Adoption & Care Value

No. Dawam is designed to work alongside the systems you already use. Your HTM, EAM, CMMS and other operational systems can remain authoritative for their respective records, while Dawam connects the surrounding information to help teams understand the device and its operational context.

By giving teams better context about a device’s condition, history and what actually needs attention, Dawam can help identify issues before they become failures, reduce unnecessary servicing, and help avoid costly, unplanned disruptions to care.

Dawam is built for the people who need different views of the same device — biomedical engineers and technicians, clinical staff, clinic and hospital administrators, facility management, and leadership. Each sees the device through the lens of what they’re responsible for.

Start with your first device. Bring the information you have about one life-critical device into Dawam and begin building its operational context. You don’t need to map your entire equipment inventory first — one device is enough to begin.
